Before visiting one of our parks, please read our most updated public health statement here.
Getting outside, exercising and outdoor play are healthy ways to cope in extremely stressful situations. Now more than ever, we need this important outlet. Currently, District parks and open spaces are open as are some of our sports facilities but with mandated restrictions.
- Participate in the Mississippi Bar Trail Run 5K/10K & Virtual Run! In response to everything going on, we have opened up our June 6th trail run event to provide the unique opportunity for individuals to participate in their own way on their own time as virtual runners. Now, you can register for the Virtual 5K or 10K and run anytime and anywhere from April 1st – June 7th. Whether you’re on the trail, the treadmill, the sidewalk, or at the park – go the distance and accomplish your goal! For more details about the virtual run, click here.
- Visit a local park and get some fresh air in our open grass spaces - As of May 20th, the following amenities are now open:
- Phoenix Park Dog Park
- Miller Park tennis courts and disc golf course
- All park gates will be opened each morning. At this time, personal hygiene and disinfecting is the responsibility of individual users. Social distancing remains mandatory. Keep yourselves safe and healthy!
- All park restrooms will be opened each morning. Restrooms will be sanitized once each day. Please remember to take all necessary precautions when using shared spaces.
- Go on a walk, run, or bike ride around your neighborhood and say hi (from a distance) to all of your neighbors as you pass by!
- Have a family picnic in your yard!
- State park campgrounds are closed. Non-campground outdoor areas of parks, including trails and beaches remain open; however, restroom facilities are limited.
- National forests remain open. However, the U.S. Forest Service discourages people traveling long distances. Bathrooms are closed and most trash cans have been removed. Be prepared to “leave no trace” and pack in what you pack out.
- Ocean, lakes, rivers and streams are all open to fishing – in season, according to fish and wildlife. They continue to stock trout and our wardens are out to enforce all limits and fishing regulations.
