Fair Oaks Park Community Garden

History of the Garden

The Fair Oaks Park Community Garden originated in 1981 with the development of 47 plots and later expanded to the current 84 plots in 2010.

The 1.85 acre Fair Oaks Park Community Garden exists to promote good gardening techniques, sharing of information, and community camaraderie.

Fees and Commitments

An annual plot fee is due no later than January 1st of each year that goes directly back into the garden for maintenance and improvements.

Fair Oaks Residents - $35

Non-Fair Oaks Residents - $45

All gardeners are required to volunteer 10 hours a year at designated workdays to upkeep the garden grounds and assist in garden enhancement projects.

Gardeners must abide by the garden guidelines that are enforced by an elected committee of garden coordinators.

Donations

The Fair Oaks Park Community Gardeners donate hundreds of pounds of fresh produce annually to a local food locker. The produce donated to the food locker is grown by gardeners in their individual plots as well as designated food locker plots that are maintained by the garden coordinators and additional volunteers.
